Add a Location (Container or Storage Area) with Advanced Options

Use the Advanced Options so you can duplicate a location later and/or bulk create bins. Once you’ve completed setting up the location, you will be able to duplicate it to create another location with the exact same aisle and bin configuration.

  1. Navigate to Warehouse → Storage Setup and click the Add New button at the top right.

  1. In the Add New Storage Type modal complete the new location type fields.
    1. Choose the Storage Location Type you want to create.
      • Select "Location" to create a new storage location with bins.
      • Select "Staging" to create a new staging area with bins.
        • Please Note: Staging Areas can only be used if displayed on your Process Flow page.
    2. Enter a Type Description: E.g. "CONTAINER 5"
      • This field is what appears on the label and can be changed later.
    3.  Enter a Type Code: E.g. " CONTAINER 5"
      • This cannot be changed.
    4.   Use Advance Options if you want to be able to duplicate the location and/or bulk create bins. 
    5.   Enter a Unique Code: E.g. "C5"
      • This cannot be changed.
    6.   Enter a Delimiter: E.g. "-"
      • The delimiter is the character that separates locations, aisles, and bins in the the bin code. A hyphen (-) is commonly used, but the delimiter is optional and can be left blank of you do not want to use one.

  1. Click the Create button to create the new location. 

Add an Aisle

  1. Click on the storage location row where you would like to add an aisle.

  1. Click the Add New button. 

  1. Fill in the Aisle fields.
    1. Enter an Aisle Code: E.g. "L"
      • This cannot be changed
  2. Enter an Aisle Description: E.g. "LEFT"
    1. This field is what appears on the label and can be changed later.
  1. Click the Save button.

Add a Single Bin

  1. Click on the aisle row where you would like to add a bin.
  1. Click the Add New button.

  1. Fill in the Bin fields
    1. Enter a Bin Code: E.g. "C5-L-1"
      • When Advanced Options are applied, this will automatically be generated based on the value entered in the Bin field. This cannot be changed later.
    2. Enter a Bin: E.g. "1"
      • The value in this field is what is added to the Bin Code (C5-L-1) and cannot be changed later.
    3. Enter a Bin Description: E.g. "C1-L-1"
      • This field is what appears on the label and can be changed later. If left blank, the bin code will be added to the bin description when saved.
    4.  Enter a Tire Capacity: E.g. "20"
      • The number in this field is the total maximum number of tires the bin location can hold. These can be changed later.
  1. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the second bin, and so on.
  2. Click the Save button.

Bulk Create Multiple Bins

  1. Click on the aisle row where you would like to add a bin.
  1. Click the +Add New button down arrow and select the Bulk Create option.

  1.  Fill in the Bulk Create fields
    1. Enter the # of Bins to create: E.g. "5"
      • In this field enter the number of bins you want to create for the aisle.
    2. Enter an Increment by: E.g. "1"
      • In this field enter the number by which you want to increment the bins. For example: Entering "1" will create bins numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Entering "2" would create bins numbered 2, 4, 6, 8, 10.
    3. Enter a Tire Capacity: E.g. "20"
      • The number in this field is the total maximum number of tires each bin location can hold. This can be changed later.
    4. Enter a Pattern: E.g. "C5- L-1"
      • This last number in pattern field is where the bin numbering will start. For example, if the pattern ends in "1" the bins will be created starting from number 1 through 5.
      • If you are adding additional bins, the pattern should end in the number where you want the bin number starting from. For example, if the pattern ends in "6" the bins will be created starting from number 6 through 10. 

  1. Click the Preview button to preview the list of bins that will be created. 
  2. Click the Create Bins button the generate the new bin locations.


Print Bin Labels

  1. In the TSS web portal navigate to Warehouse → Storage Setup in the main menu.
  1. Select the checkbox beside the storage locations for which labels are required.
  1. Click the Print Bin Labels button.
  2. To print a specific bin label, click on the location, then aisle, then click on Print Labels in the ••• menu for the bin in which labels are required. 

  • TIP: Use the Edit Location and Edit Aisles tabs to navigate between storage location, aisle, and bin pages.
